Welcome to the Be Intentive blog.

Be Intentive began as conversation that grew out of mentorship sessions, workshops, and conferences that I attended in 2014 and 2015. I spent a lot of time thinking and learning on the ways that intent and what we pay attention to shape the outcomes and impacts of the way we work.

Where do intent and attention come together?

How could be intentive about what we do? How we act? What, how, and why we create?

Since then, there have been big shifts in the way society looks at arts, culture, and education. The way we look at the work and contributions of culture makers and culture bearers has changed. We’ve seen changes in the way that the arts, culture, and education sector are supported and funded. Grassroots movements for equity, social action, and transformation have shown us the benefits of action. We’ve seen the costs of inaction.

This space will be used to write about ways you can move ideas forward and create people-centered approaches that engage and work with communities. I’ll examine ways we can create capacity for equity and social justice in arts, culture, and education work.

Enjoy!
